Manchester University Language Centre

The University Language Centre is part of the University of Manchester and is based on the main University campus, in the South of the City Centre. The welcoming, accessible and multicultural environment that is the city of Manchester provides the ideal base for your time studying in the UK.

The University Language Centre has over 30 years’ experience of running English Language courses for international students and these courses are accredited by the British Council through Accreditation UK. Our Pre-sessional courses are also accredited by BALEAP (The Global Forum for EAP Professionals). Students are taught in small classes of up to 20 students or less, and a communicative methodology is used.

We offer a year-round, full-time English for Academic Purposes course designed for students wishing to study in an English-speaking University. Students will be taught in a warm, professional learning environment with well-qualified, experienced teaching staff. Students can study from 10 to 40 weeks several start dates available throughout the year.

Our English Summer Programme is designed for students looking for a short course during the summer months which combines English Language tuition with British Culture and social activities.

The University Language Centre offers a range of learning and teaching resources, including a library of multi-format materials in 80 languages; two open-access multimedia studios which support computer aided language learning and allow viewing over IP and satellite television from around the world.

Students also have access to the wide range of facilities open to all registered University of Manchester students on campus such as the Albert Gilbert Learning Commons – a 24/7 environment for study, the University of Manchester Libraries, the Students’ Union, Student Services Centre, sports and leisure facilities and more.
