Description
The Language Centre at the University of Leeds offers programmes which provide students with the academic and general English language skills needed for university study and a useful orientation to academic and social life in Britain.
All English language courses are accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English and are taught by experienced staff, practised in teaching students from over 100 countries. The Language Centre provides excellent learning and teaching facilities with a well-resourced Self-Access Area for independent language learning. Students have full access to all University facilities, including the libraries, computer clusters, sports centre and Students Union societies.
The Language Centre offers an extensive range of Pre-sessional English language programmes. They are available throughout the year and last for anything between 3 and 22 weeks. There are courses for students at all levels, including undergraduate and post-graduate.

The General English Programme teaches English for everyday communication to improve fluency and range of expression. It also gives students the opportunity to learn about aspects of British life and culture.
Part-time option: mornings only (15 hours per week). Full-time option: all day (21 hours per week)

Accommodation
- Halls of Residence
- Catered or self catering. Prices range from £63 - £ 140per week.
- Homestay
- Offered at £133 per week. Breakfast and evening meals during the week and all meals at weekends. Places are limited. Please contact the Language Centre for more information.
- Private Rental Accommodation
- A wide array of private rental accommodation is available in the city. Prices to suit all budgets.
Transfers
For groups only. From Leeds/Bradford Airport (20 minutes) and Manchester Airport (60 minutes). Cost upon request.
Social Programme
A variety of activities and excursions are offered. Free excursions; evening activities at cost. University-wide socities and activities available through the Students Union.
