Established in 1991, we are accredited by the British Council and a member of English UK and also a centre for Cambridge exams. Courses offered; General English, Business English, exam preparation courses for Cambridge and IELTS/TOEIC & TOEFL and specialised 1:1 lessons. We also offer our unique summer English with Football course in conjunction with Manchester City Football Club. We offer homestay accommodation, year-round self catering accommodation and our own student accommodation. We place a strong emphasis on our students' welfare and have a dedicated and committed team of support staff. Facilities include; self access centre, library, free internet and wi-fi and student lounge with vending machines. We have a full social programme each week. We are in the heart of Manchester city centre, close to all transport links and surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops.

In partnership with Manchester City Football Club, one of Manchester's premier league teams we are offering an English + Football course for football fans, both male and female, from around the world.
The course caters for most abilities of football (unfortunately not suitable for complete beginners or for international standard young players).
The summer course fees include English Language tuition; accommodation either in Halls of Residence on a full board basis or student residence (lunches provided Monday to Friday as part of the course, self catering at weekends) , 4 afternoons per week of FA qualified football coaching; a full excursion programme and local transport passes.
The year round course fees include 15 hours per week of General English + 2 afternoons football training + 1 afternoon football/sport excursion

TKT gives teachers a strong foundation in the core areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom. It is ideal for all teachers, whatever their background and teaching experience, and is also suitable for people who would like to teach English but do not yet have a teaching position.
There are no formal entry requirements. However, anyone wishing to take TKT is strongly advised to have at least an intermediate level of English — Level B1 of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) — e.g. PET, IELTS band score of 4.
Most teachers are likely to follow a preparation course before taking the test but you can also prepare yourself through your own reading and study, if you prefer.
TKT has three core modules. These can be taken together in one exam session or separately, in any order, over three sessions. Each module consists of a test of 80 objective questions, lasting 80 minutes, which require you to select the correct answer and mark this on a computerised answer sheet.
Module 1 — Language and background to language learning and teaching:
• describing language and language skills
• background to language learning
• background to language teaching
Module 2 — Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching:
• planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons
• selection and use of resources and materials.
Module 3 — Managing the teaching and learning process:
• teachers' and learners' language in the classroom
• classroom management.
After taking TKT, teachers who want to develop their knowledge further can progress to Cambridge ESOL's well-established Teaching Awards, such as ICELT and CELTA.

Transfers
From Manchester Airport (about 20-30 minutes) for £60 one way.
Social Programme
During July and August, we arrange one half-day activity and one full-day excursion per week. Activities include: bowling, visits to museums, Liverpool, Blackpool, Lake District and Chester. Outside summer, social activities are run on a weekly basis and the variety of events makes sure that there is something of interest to everyone. Some excursions are also available at the weekend.
