English in Chester was established in 1976. It is the only accredited, private school in the beautiful and lively City of Chester. Chester itself is well located to explore some of the most interesting parts of the UK. English in Chester offers a range of courses for different age groups. There is a separate centre for business people. Full accommodation / welfare service, excursion programme and airport transfers.

All classes take place in our comfortable and well-equiped Language Training Centre in Stanley Place. This is a separate building used exclusively for our Business students. The course has a modular design and our clients can begin on any Monday and study for 1-3 weeks. We also offer combination courses with varying amounts of 1-1 classes to meet the specific needs of our clients.

Cambridge Examination Course -

We offer excellent preparation for an internationally recognised qualification. Students on longer General English courses have an opportunity to take the Cambridge examinations KET and PET.
There are set course dates for our other Cambridge Exams. There is a 9/10 week preparation course for FCE, CAE and CPE. There is also a fast-track, 4-week examination course for students at FCE and CAE levels. A special entry test is set for admission to this course.

We aim to develop your ability to communicate effectively. All aspects of language are covered with an emphasis on speaking and listening. The carefully structured and flexible courses give you an opportunity to select afternoon options to meet your needs. There are options specifically designed for long-term students who require IELTS preparation and Study Skills. We also run TOEIC preparation options with the exam taking place several times during the year. Students can begin a General English Course on any Monday and can study for a minimum of two weeks.

Junior Vacation

Our Vacation Courses are characterised by
- the high quality of our excursion programme
- the level of care and attention that you receive, both in and out of the classroom
The courses run on the University of Chester campus. Only individual teenagers and 'mini' groups are accepted and the absence of large groups means that this is a truly international experience providing you with a lot of opportunity to improve your English. In the summer of 2008 we had students from 19 different countries! Students can begin on any Monday during the summer and can study for a minimum of two weeks.

Accommodation
- Homestay
- Standard - single room with breakfast and dinner and full board at weekends, £110 per week. Executive - available for business people, £190 per week.
All host families are within 3 miles/4km of English in Chester and the city centre. We are the only accredited language school in Chester so our homestay accommodation is of a very high standard. - Residential Self Catered
- In the summer months we have a self catering residence in the centre of Chester. It is for students aged 18+ and each student has a single study room with a bed and a desk. There are 3 floors with 6 bedrooms sharing a kitchen and bathroom. Prices available on application.
- Other
- We can provide a list of recommended B & B's and hotels for students who wish to book hotel accommodation.
Transfers
From Manchester (45 minutes) and Liverpool (40 minutes) for £41 one way.
Social Programme
Full social programme with full-day excursions on alternate Saturdays and mid week events. Excursions and events include: North Wales, the Lake District, Liverpool, Manchester, York, Alton Towers, Pub tours and international food evenings. Prices from £2.00 per excursion.
