International House Newcastle

The city

Newcastle is vibrant and has a famous reputation for its warm hospitality and friendliness. It won the UK’s favourite city in Guardian’s Travel Awards, it is one of Europe’s best nights out and living costs are up to 40% cheaper than the south of England. What’s not to love! We have a compact city centre so students can walk everywhere, therefore no expensive public transport costs. We also have an excellent underground system going to Newcastle International Airport which links with all major airports in Europe. The metro also takes you directly to our beautiful coastline in less than 25 minutes. Newcastle is also close to miles of countryside and many historic castles (two of which feature in the Harry Potter films!). We have easy access to Scotland and the Lake District, and London is under 3 hours by train and a short coach ride from the world heritage site Hadrian’s Wall. Even Mr Bean is from the North East of England!

The experience of learning in Newcastle

Voted one of the UK’s favourite student cities, Newcastle is a perfect study destination because it’s affordable, has great entertainment and an energetic social scene. We have two major universities and 1 in 6 people in Newcastle is a student so it’s very student friendly. There are plenty of opportunities for students to immerse themselves in English and British culture with liked-minded people and welcoming locals.
